Did you know you can get some great discounts if you have a Carer Card (sometimes known as the “we care” card)?
Victorian Carer Card holders get discounts on shopping, public transport, and leisure activities.
Shopping discounts with a Carer Card
- 5% off Wish gift cards that can be used for grocery shopping at Woolworths, as well as Big W, Dan Murphy’s, and EG Ampol. You need to register to get the discount
- 10% off all books at Booktopia
- 10% off prescription glasses at OPSM
- 5% off electric bikes and scooters at E-Ride Solutions

- A whopping 20% off at all Salvos stores. Just show your card at the checkout
Victorian Carer Card holders also get concession public transport on weekdays and free travel on weekends. To get this discount you need to use a Carer Coded Myki which you can get from a staffed train station.
Cheaper family days out with a Carer Card
When you’re out and about with your child, Carer Card holders get free entry into Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks, Legoland Discovery Centre, and Sealife Melbourne. Carer card holders also get concession entry into all four Zoos Victoria sites (if your child has the Child Disability Allowance Health Care Card, then as the carer, you’ll get free entry into Zoos Victoria).
To find out about other money-saving options, there’s a discount directory where you can find the full list of participating outlets and available discounts.
It’s worth noting that the information on these discounts was correct as of May 2024, and things may change.
How to get a Carer Card
If you don’t already have one, the Carer Card, also called the “we care” card, is pretty easy to apply for. You’re eligible if you receive the Carer Payment or the Carer Allowance, and even if you don’t get these payments, your GP can fill in the form and confirm that you are a carer.
