“Volunteering as a Community Champion allows me to be a voice in important discussions that can make positive changes for the future.”

Community Champions

ACD Community Champions are volunteers. They are parents and carers of children with disability who are passionate about helping others on a similar journey.

Our volunteers help families to feel less alone and more connected to available supports while raising awareness of ACD.

Who can be a Champion?

Anyone who is a parent or carer of a child with disability in Victoria can apply to become an ACD Community Champion.

You need to be passionate about raising awareness of ACD services and support our purpose of improving the lives of children with disability and their families.

Raise awareness

Let families know what help is available by sharing information about ACD’s services through your own support networks. Champions also help us raise awareness of the issues facing families with children with disability.

Research and service improvement

Help to ensure the voices of children with disability and their families are heard by participating in projects that help to improve services and supports. You may also be invited to give feedback on ACD submissions and participate in government and community consultations.

Share your story

Families tell us that hearing other people’s stories helps them to feel less isolated. By sharing your story you can help to highlight the benefits of connecting with other families and seeking support from ACD and in the community.

Register your interest

If you are interested in joining a supportive and passionate team of volunteers, you can register your interest and we will contact you when recruitment reopens.
