For over 30 years ACD has been empowering children with a disability and their families to access the support needed to live a fulfilling life and to uphold their child’s right to reach their full potential.
In August 1980 a small group of parents of children with a disability came together to fight to restore services that had ceased. Lasting friendships were forged along with a desire to share information and offer mutual support. That group became ACD.
Striving for a better life for our children and families continues to drive what we do today.
30th Anniversary celebrations
In 2010, ACD celebrated three decades of working to support children with a disability and their families. To mark the occasion, we published a special edition of NoticeBoard outlining the journey — its successes and challenges.
We look forward to celebrating our next milestone of 40 years in 2020 with ACD members and supporters, past and present.
